As we head towards year-end, we have only one holiday-shortened trading week before we turn the page on the calendar to 2012. The markets are mixed for the year so far, with the Dow in positive territory thus far, the S&P 500 and NASDAQ virtually flat, and international markets down a considerable amount. Most of the bond markets will finish the year with significant gains, barring a major unforeseen setback next week.
We have seen some stock market gains this week due to increasing strength in various US economic data, but any gains have been continuously offset during the second half of the year due to increasing deterioration in the European situation.
Including today, there are just five trading days left. Most of the indexes have a real chance to finish positive, with the likely exception being international markets.
So what do you think? Do you think we will see the Dow, NASDAQ, and S&P 500 all finish up for 2011?
